Welcome to the Louisville
chapter of the IMA. For over 75 years this chapter has been assisting
management accountants in the Louisville area develop themselves
professionally. The chapter offers numerous contacts and resources in
the areas of education, employment and technical assistance. Seminars
are provided on an ongoing basis to provide members with up-to-date
information on changes in the accounting and finance professions and to
meet CPE certification requirements. Our monthly professional
development seminars also provide an efficient and inexpensive way to
sharpen existing skills, and develop new ones.
The
Louisville Chapter of IMA has a proud history, being chartered as
chapter number 32 in 1928. Our Chapter represents a region including
such cities as Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany in Indiana,
and Elizabethtown, Bardstown, and Shelbyville in Kentucky. Our
organization's name has changed as the scope of our members' work has
changed, originally founded as the National Association of Cost
Accountants in 1919, then becoming the National Association of
Accountants in 1957, and the Institute of Management Accountants in
1991. Member participation on the Chapter Board of Directors also
develops essential leadership and team building skills that are so
important in today's working environment. Personal development is also
enhanced through involvement in our Chapter community service projects.
This chapter
also serves as a resource for those members seeking employment for
themselves, or needing to fill vacancies in departmental positions.
Local corporations utilize the chapter for employment assistance
obtaining new employees at all levels, whether it is an entry level
position or CFO. The Louisville Chapter of IMA is also proud to work
with local universities to assist students become acquainted with
accounting professionals in the Louisville area. It also serves as a
good starting point for graduates entering the job market in accounting
or finance.
